He is a much loved and admired and devoted Husband to Elizabeth, Father to three amazing children Colette, Louise and Andrew. Grandad to Macauley and Matthew. He has two sisters and a brother,uncle to many and cousins. Daughter in law Jane and son in law Dean.

Alan is much loved by all his family and friends. He was always there to help anybody; he had a pure heart of gold. He would do anything for anyone. I remember fondly the times he would just break out into song any place any time. Also playing on his guitar making funny faces and being a total laugh a minute. He was always the “loudest” person in the room and listening to him reminisce about experiences he had in his life the good times and the bad. Telling us about how life used to be like his time in the army, how places in Birmingham used to be before it was so built up, the woods, fields, and the many things him and his brother used to get up to along the river Cole.
He was a joy to have around. Alan had many health problems but despite this he still managed to have time, love and kindness for all those around him. If you ever had a query about anything he was “the man to call”
He demonstrated what being a dad was all about, and became like a dad to me, I will miss his singing, and stories and most of all him just being him. I miss him Alan had an extraordinary strong will for life and his family will miss him so much. Nevertheless, he has left a lifetime of memories so he will never, be forgotten. Alan was a huge fan of Aston villa football club and played it him self he helped teach his grandchildren the fine art of kicking a football.
He was the kind of man who liked to be prepared, he liked to take care of things ahead of time; he was the epitome of the old saying, "never put off 'til tomorrow what you can do today".
There is so much I could write about Alan but I would be here a very long time, He is going to be sorely missed by everyone.

footprints in the sand: one belonging
to him, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him,

He noticed that many times along the path of
his life there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he
questioned the LORD about it:
'LORD, you said that once I decided to follow
you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when
I needed you most you would leave me.'
The LORD replied:
'My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you.'

My prayer for us today
Tonight as I play at being Santa again.
I remember the tears I cried as a child when I discovered Santa wasn't real, at that loss of Innocent as all these dreams and hopes of a child become so bitter sweet as an adult..
I think of all the loved ones we have just lost over this last year, and the very raw pain it leaves in my heart...
And the ones that have gone before them..All our angels...and I pray for YOU all, that,
This twisting pain in our stomach eases..
The emptiness in every beat of heart steadies..
That the tears on our pillows dry..
And that we start to live again instead of existing.
And I pray for A Peaceful sleep tonight for each and everyone of us.
And I thank god for all the love that I have found here..
But most of all I pray for the Christmas Miracle..
